1 Peter 1:18-19
For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. He paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.The real problem with the world isn’t money, politics, or even the economy. The real problem facing the world is the sin that resides in the hearts of man. Because of this problem, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God had to be offered as ransom. Regarding ransoms, the Guinness Book of World Records posted that the greatest ransom ever paid was that for Atahualpa by the Incas to Francisco Pizarro in 1533 at Cajamarca, Peru. It was an entire hall full of gold and silver. Now that’s a pretty impressive ransom, but it still can’t be compared to what God did to pay your ransom. God gave His Son’s life as a ransom for all to be free and have salvation. John 8:36 says, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” You’re neither a slave or hostage any longer. You’re free indeed.
