Proverbs 3:6
In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.Success is a relative term. The evidence of success, as far as people are concerned, typically involves a great deal money and ownership of valuables. It brings to mind a story I'd once heard about two good friends: a young pastor and an older attorney who married into wealth. Between them, my attorney friend always felt that the young pastor would never amount to anything. On the other hand, the young pastor held the lawyer in high esteem and considered him a dear friend. As God would have it, the wealthy attorney's daughter fell in love with and married the young pastor. Needless to say, her father was deeply disappointed, failing to attend their wedding and ceasing communications with the young couple for several years - until he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. At that point, he realized that his riches were of absolutely no value. Knowing that his life would soon be over, my attorney friend began a vigorous search for God. For guidance, he sought out his son-in-law, who had developed into a seasoned and experienced pastor. It’s a sad, but true story. Put God first in your life, let Him take the wheel and drive you toward the blessings He has waiting for you. Remember that His ways are not your ways. Without a doubt, it’s better to be successful in God’s eyes than in your own.
