1 Corinthians 10:13
But remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can't stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it.It's likely that many of the mistakes you’ll make in life will begin with temptation. Lies are usually at the root of a temptation, so if you already know the truth you'll be able to identify that which has been falsified and resist it. It's pretty clear in James 1:13 where we learn, "Remember, no one who wants to do wrong should ever say, ‘God is tempting me.’ God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else either." James 1:14 exposes the reason we give in as, "Temptation comes from the lure of our own evil desires." I recently learned about a species of large and colorful spiders living along the banks of the Amazon River that when spread out gives the appearance of a brilliant flower blossom that is tempting to bees and other insects. The spider secretes a poison that drugs the tempted visitors and prepares them to be the spider’s next meal. If you don’t learn to identify sinful and tempting things, you just might find yourself like one of those unsuspecting bumble bees. Don't give in to your temptations. Live the righteous life and resist the lure of your own sinful desires.
