"The time is surely coming,"
says the Sovereign LORD,
"when I will send a famine
on the land — not a famine of
bread or water but of hearing
the words of the LORD."
The desire to read and listen to the Word of God is totally different from the body’s physical desire for food. Physically, if we don’t eat we get hungry, and if we’re hungry we crave for food. Spiritually, Jesus said in Matthew 4:4, "No! The Scriptures say, 'People need more than bread for their life; they must feed on every Word of God.” When we talk about spiritual famine, not eating and not reading the Word of God is amplified. I remember an anonymous quote that said, “The Bible will keep you away from sin, but sin will keep you away from the Bible.” When you say “No” to God’s Word and “Yes” to sin, you can be sure that a famine is on its way.

AMEN! We are feeding ourselves through the Word of God, but we keep on preventing ourselves from eating that food. This is all a challenge because the Word of God is the key.
