For the construction of the Temple of God, they gave almost 188 tons of gold, 10,000 gold coins, about 375 tons of silver, about 675 tons of bronze, and about 3,750 tons of iron. The people rejoiced over the offerings, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the LORD, and King David was filled with joy.
There's a story that I'd read about a poor little boy who while at church, saw all the people putting their tithes and offerings into the offering plate. The only things that he had to give, however, were marbles in his pocket. Without thinking twice about it, he put all of his marbles in the offering plate. Several people saw what he did, and after the worship service one of the ushers asked the little boy if he wanted his marbles back. He replied, “Oh, no. I gave them to the Lord Jesus.” Inspired, and a little embarrassed, by the generosity that this little child displayed, a wealthy church member pulled the usher to the side and said, “I’ll give a hundred dollars for that boy’s marbles.” It's so amazing how giving wholeheartedly and freely can bless the giver.
