ARE WE RELATED?

1 Corinthians 15:22
Everyone dies because all of us
are related to Adam, the first man.
But all who are related to Christ,
the other man, will be given new life.

The two family institutions that people are members of are the family line of Adam, to which every human being belongs, or Jesus' family, the church. Under the first family, all are subject to sin and death, but under the second family, members are blessed with redemption and everlasting life. We learn this in John 11:25 when Jesus says, "I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die like everyone else, will live again." If you're wondering what life is like in Jesus' family, Christ describes it in Matthew 12:48-50:
"Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?" Then he pointed to his disciples and said, "These are my mother and brothers. Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!"
Even though Jesus' family structure might seem a little different, or maybe even a little odd, it doesn't change the reality that the will of God remains unchanged. He wants you to be redeemed from sin and graced with everlasting life. No matter what you're going through or where you've been, you can be a member of the church - Jesus' family. All you have to do is accept his graceful invitation and you become a member of His family that is touched by grace and blessed with eternity.
