When the world hates you, remember it hated me before it hated you.A young soldier that was a member of a prominent family became a follower of Christ during one of his tours of duty. After one particular tour, the young man expressed fear that he might soon slip back into his old habits upon returning home. A fellow believer told the young man that if he made a public confession of his faith in Christ, he wouldn’t have to worry. The young man agreed to tell the first ten people he would see when he returned home of his encounter with God. When he returned, party invitation after invitation were sent to him and he would proclaim, "I've just become a Christian." Once word had gotten around about his faith, some of his friends stopped inviting him out and others cut communication completely. It's sad that when you become a Christian, some of your friends will turn away from you, but don’t worry about it because Jesus taught us that they're not turning from you, but rather that they're turning away from Him. In what's probably best for your life anyhow, it’s just time to make new friends that won't lead you astray from the path that God has set for you.
