Therefore, since we are
surrounded by such a
huge crowd of witnesses
to the life of faith,
let us strip off every
weight that slows us down,
especially the sin that so
easily hinders our progress.
And let us run with
endurance the race that
God has set before us.
Success is not measured by how we start a race, but rather by how we finish it. Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.” Many people are great starters but poor finishers. Paul became a great finisher simply because He came to personally know the Author and Finisher of life, and working with that Person gave Paul the proper perspectives and the knowledge as to how to run the race of life. He wrote in Hebrews 12:2, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Start with Jesus and run the best race within you, striving until the race of life is over.
