SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL

Ever want to make something ugly into something beautiful? Ecclesiastes 3:11 tells us that, “God has made everything beautiful for its own time.” Deep down on the inside, I’m a frustrated artist. There was this one time that I had “painted” a portrait of a farm in a nature setting mostly because I like looking at nature in motion. As my portrait was developing, I realized that what I had painted was neither nature nor farm. In a bout of frustration, I handed my “painting” off to my wife, who is a trained fine artist. She began to retouch it with her imagination and artistic hand. She added some plants, trees, clouds, and mountains. She put some depth into it and presto (literally!) it became a masterpiece. There wasn’t, however, any trace of my original portrait. This reminds me that whatever I’ve made of my life – even if I’ve made a complete mess of it – if I place my life into God’s hand, the hand of The Master can do something beautiful with my mess. There’s a wonderful song that says, “Something beautiful, something good. All my confusions He understood. All I have to offer Him is brokenness and strife. And He made something beautiful of my life.” Hand over your messy life with all of the stressful difficulty to Jesus and He’ll turn your life into something beautiful – He’ll turn your life into a masterpiece.
