So receiving God's promise is not up to us.
We can't get it by choosing it or working hard for it.
God will show mercy to anyone he chooses.
Romans 9:16 is a real eye opener for all of us. Paul said we can’t get God’s promise by choosing it or working hard for it, but rather He will deliver it according to His will. History tells us that the great chief of the Blackfoot confederacy in southern Alberta gave the Canadian Pacific Railway permission to cross the Blackfoot land. In return, the chief was given a lifetime Canadian Pacific Railway pass to travel anywhere he chose. He carried it around his neck for the rest of his life, never using it to travel and never realizing its value. If you give God permission to come into your life and make Him as your Lord and savior, you have with you everything that His promise can give – that is, if you realize the value of what has been given to you.
