This is a true saying, and everyone should believe it:
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners —
and I was the worst of them all.
The worst thing that Paul could have done before becoming an Apostle was to lead the movement to the kill all the Christians of his day. Murder is quite possibly the worst thing you can do to a good person trying to do a good thing. Can you imagine how the Apostle Paul felt each time he recalled what he had done in his past? He actually thought he was wiping out Christians for God. That only changed when Saul met the Lord Jesus on the road to Damascus and became Paul. When you meet Jesus Christ personally through the Bible and receive Him as Savior, then you become enlightened and you will see clearly whether or not what you are doing in this life is right or wrong.
