And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!Before you were a Christian, I’m sure that there were words that would emerge from your mouth without any regard as to whether or not those words were blessings or curses. I recall sharing the Gospel with a salty-tongued boy that received the Lord Jesus as Savior. An adult that knew this boy told me that every sentence this boy spoke contained a curse word. This boy would later grow into a man of encouragement who would carefully use his words only for blessings. Jesus taught us in Matthew 12:34, “You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say.” If Jesus is in your heart, you’ll find your mouth speaking good things that are a blessing to others. Have you used your mouth to utter blessings or cursing today?
