"Master," Simon replied, "we worked hard
all last night and didn't catch a thing.
But if you say so, we'll try again."
There’s a story about Neil Marten, a member of the British Parliament, who was giving a tour of the House of Parliament to his constituents when his group happened upon Lord Chancellor Hailsham. The Lord Chancellor recognized Marten among the group and cried, "Neil!" Upon seeing Hailsham, the entire set of visiting constituents took to their knees before the Lord Chancellor. In the Bible, Simon was with Jesus when He told the Apostles to drop their nets again. Simon was an experienced fisherman that knew that of no fish at the location Jesus had indicated. Nevertheless, the Disciples obeyed the odd instructions and harvested beyond what they would even be able to carry home. Sometimes we just can’t understand why God gives us instructions when they make no sense to us. The tough lesson here is that even when the instructions seem odd, out of place or nonsensical, if they’re coming from God – follow them. You just might have a miraculous catch that day.
