See to it that you obey God,
the one who is speaking to you.
For if the people of Israel did not escape
when they refused to listen to Moses,
the earthly messenger,
how terrible our danger if we reject
the One who speaks to us from heaven!
Adolph Herseth, a trumpeter for the Chicago Symphony for nearly fifty years said, “Playing the trumpet has less to do with the mouth than the ear. You have to start with a very precise sense of how something should sound. Then, instinctively, you modify your lip and your breathing and the pressure of the horn to obtain the sound.” Likewise, the Bible says those that have ears let them hear. So listen to what the Word of God is telling you. We have two ears, two eyes and just one mouth. It stands to reason that if we talked less, we’d be able to watch more carefully for what God is doing in our lives and that we’d be able to listen and hear clearly what God is trying to tell us.
