John 15:18
When the world hates you,
remember it hated me before it hated you.
A son of a prominent family during WWI became a follower of Christ and after a tour of duty, the young man expressed fear that he might soon slip back into his old habits upon returning home. A fellow believer told the young man that if he made a public confession of his faith in Christ, he wouldn’t have to worry. The young man agreed to tell the first ten people he would see when he returned home of his encounter with God. When he returned, party invitation after invitation were sent to him and he would proclaim, "I've just become a Christian." Word had gotten around, and soon some of his friends stopped seeing him. Pretty sad, right? If you’re a new Christian, some of your old friends will turn away from you. Don’t worry about that, though, because Jesus said they didn’t turn you away, but rather they turned Him away. In probably the best of ways, it’s just time to make some new friends that won't lead you astray from the right path.
