History tells us that the most ancient known law code is the Code of Hammurabi during the reign of the King of Babylon (c.1728-1686 BC). The code divides the population into three classes: gentlemen, citizens, and slaves. Generally, the gentlemen would enjoy many special privileges, but if one would commit an offense, that person would be punished more severely than members of the citizens or slaves. As Christians, we are the children of God, with the gifting of many privileges and promises by our Lord. When we are corrected through suffering and hardship, it can be argued using the Code of Hammurabi that the punishment be more severe because of our position as children of God. Behave and walk as a child of God should do. If you really think it through, you're a member of a royal family and your behavior should be impeccable.
